Risque Wigs for Women (Review)

I never thought that I would wear wigs or write about my experience with a particular brand of wigs for that matter, until now.

My own hair is brown, mid-length, with a wavy/curly texture and even though I have worn clip-in extensions previously, I had never worn a full wig or even knew how a high quality one could enhance my appearance. One of the reasons why I used to avoid wigs is because most of the ones that I saw looked too shiny and doll-like with an unnatural appearance. My perception of wigs completely changed when I was given the opportunity to try on and wear Risque Wigs- a division of Estetica Designs. I was in shock and amazed the first time I put on one of the wig styles.  It was absolutely beautiful with a flattering cut, natural sheen, soft layers, breathable cap, and realistic scalp part.  I could hardly believe how natural the wig looked on me; in fact, I feel that I looked better with the wig on!

All Risque Wigs are made of high-quality synthetic Futura material, which is a special heat resistant fiber that can be styled with heat tools, such as a curling iron or flat iron.  This is a wonderful feature, because it allows the wigs to be curled or straightened at medium temperatures, without causing damage.  Also, because the wigs are made of Futura Fibers, they retain their shape for a long time.

Many synthetic wigs that I have seen women wearing do not look realistic with an unnatural, shiny appearance.   Honestly, they look like they were made from the same kind of material that doll hair is made of and some even smell like doll hair.  Risque Wigs, however, are completely different and look like real human hair, with a natural sheen, and they do not have a plastic doll smell. In fact, Risque Wigs do not have a scent at all and the texture of the hair fibers simulates the texture of human hair.

Risque Wigs are fitted with a Pure Stretch Cap, which provides elasticity throughout the cap, creating a comfortable, breathable, and secure fit that will last all day.

My own hair is wavy/curly, but is very fine, so it has been a blessing to wear Risque Wigs, because they have given me length and fullness with incredible style and versatility that I did not experience with clip-in extensions.

I would like to share with you some of my favorites from the Risque Collection.

ESCAPE:  This is the very first wig that I tried on from the collection and wear on a regular basis.  It has long layers with medium spiral curls, side swept bangs, natural skin part, and has an overall length of 22.5 inches.  Mine is in the color of Dark Brown (R4/6H). This is such a beautiful wig and I have had so many compliments wearing it.  No one seems to be able to tell that the wig is not my own hair; they just tell me that my hair looks beautiful.

DARE:  Is a long layered wig with tight spiral curls throughout. It has a realistic skin part that makes the wig look like it is growing from your own scalp.  The wig is very curly, voluminous, and is 20 inches long. I have this style in Dark Brown (R4/6H) too.  I did not like the tightly-curly look on me, so I straightened it with a flat iron at 325 degrees and cut some bangs near the front, so that it would compliment my particular face shape.  The wig looks great with tight curls or straight, depending on your personal preference.

OBSESSION: The longest style in the Risque Wig Collection and the most popular.  Measuring a stunning 30 inches in length, this style is certainly a head turner.  The one length style has thick bangs, realistic center skin part, and a silky texture.  I have this wig in two colors Dark Brown (R4/6H) and Blonde (R24/18BT). I like both colors on me and was very surprised that the blonde color looks nice on me, because I did not think that I could wear such a light color. The wig is long, flowing, with thick ends, looks real, and sort of reminds me of the 1960’s and 70’s, when many women would wear their hair straight and parted in the center with bangs.  Because of it’s length, I found the wig to be a bit heavy, but after a few hours of wear, I got used to it. Also, I recommend combing the wig daily after wearing it,  because unlike some of the other styles, it does have a tendency to get a few tangles now and then.

REACTION: This wig is so cute. It is a shoulder length, layered style with a side skin part, loose waves, a soft bang, and is 19.5 inches long.  I have it in a medium brown (R6/12H) color, but I should have gotten it in a darker shade, because I do not like the highlights throughout the wig that appear to have grey or white colored hair mixed in. In my opinion, the color makes me look much older than I really am, but other than the color, I absolutely love the style, cut, and the way the curls form throughout the wig. Many different looks and styles can be created because of its versatility.  It is, in my opinion, the most versatile wig that I have worn from the Risque Collection, because it is lightweight and has specially cut layers that have great fluidity of movement.  Maybe in the future I will get the Reaction style in a dark brown shade.

All of the wigs that I have mentioned from the Risque Collection come in a variety of colors to choose from even the colors pink and purple, but only the natural colors, such as brown, auburn, and blonde, can be straightened or curled with heat tools.  The wigs are very easy to take care of. Just swish them gently in cold or lukewarm water with a mild shampoo, rinse with cold water, towel dry by lightly blotting the hair, comb gently- starting from the bottom and work upwards to remove any tangles, then air dry. It is good to have a Styrofoam mannequin head to set your wig on to help retain its shape.

Risque has many other styles to choose from, but I mentioned just a few of my favorites.

If you have been looking for high quality wigs that look natural, realistic with great style and comfort that can be styled just like human hair, and enhance your appearance, then I highly recommend Risque Wigs.
